Sorbitol

Sorbitol is a polyol that sweetens, humectifies and lowers water activity. Gulf Multi Trading supplies it as part of our sweeteners range, with material held in the UAE and backed by full batch documentation.

It is supplied as colourless viscous liquid (70%) or white crystalline powder, in food / USP grade, 70% solution or crystalline, with an assay of 70% solution or 99% crystalline. The CAS number is 50-70-4 and the molecular formula is C6H14O6.

Applications of Sorbitol

Where it is used:

• Humectant in toothpaste, mouthwash and personal-care gels
• Sugar-free confectionery, chewing gum and chocolate
• Moisture retention in bakery, surimi and dried fruit
• Excipient and syrup base in pharmaceutical manufacture

Packing, storage and handling

Standard packing is 270 kg HDPE drum (liquid) · 25 kg bag (powder). Store in ambient, protect liquid grade from crystallisation below 15 °C. Shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored as specified.
