Monoethanolamine (MEA)

Monoethanolamine (MEA) is the most reactive ethanolamine, used for acid-gas removal and surfactant synthesis. Gulf Multi Trading supplies it as part of our amines & derivatives range, with material held in the UAE and backed by full batch documentation.

It is supplied as clear colourless to pale yellow viscous liquid with an ammoniacal odour, in technical grade, 99.0% min, with an assay of 99.0% min. The CAS number is 141-43-5 and the molecular formula is C2H7NO.

Applications of Monoethanolamine (MEA)

Where it is used:

• CO2 and H2S removal in gas sweetening and refinery amine units
• Feedstock for ethanolamides and surfactants in detergents
• Corrosion inhibitor in boiler and cooling water treatment
• pH adjustment and emulsifier in metalworking fluids
• Intermediate in agrochemical and pharmaceutical synthesis

Packing, storage and handling

Standard packing is 200 kg MS drum · 1000 L IBC · ISO tank. Store in cool, dry, ventilated store under nitrogen blanket where possible. Shelf life is 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored as specified.
